Description

Amir Isaiah is a partner in the Morgan & Morgan Business Trial Group and manages the firm’s Restructuring, Insolvency and Receivership practice. His practice is dedicated to serving the courts as a court-appointed fiduciary and finding alternative solutions for clients with regard to their insolvency-related issues and complex business litigation needs. He has successfully represented numerous clients in a wide-variety of industries and disputes. Amir has a proven track record as a court-appointed fiduciary, having served as an “arm of the court” for over 35 federal and state courts in cases involving auto dealerships, business entities, community associations, contracts, employment, fraud investigations, manufacturing and distribution, partnership/shareholder disputes, Ponzi schemes, real estate, securities, and telecommunications, among others. Amir routinely assists in the operation, liquidation, and investigation of domestic and international businesses and conducts operational reviews, due diligence, business consulting, business turnarounds, forensic accounting, and financial advisory in bankruptcy, restructuring and insolvency related matters in federal & state courts throughout Florida. A recipient of dual Master of Laws (LL.M.) degrees in Taxation (with a Certification in International Taxation), and Real Property Development, from the University of Miami School of Law, and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator and Qualified Arbitrator, Amir litigates business cases on a contingency-fee basis, representing clients with meritorious claims that have been damaged by the misconduct of larger, wealthier, or insured parties. Amir has been honored by the South Florida Legal Guide as a 2020 Top Lawyer in South Florida – an award given by lawyers to less than 1.5% of fellow Florida Bar members. The South Florida Legal Guide has a highly selective process for inclusion in its listings, part of which requires all Top Lawyers” listed to be nominated by fellow attorneys in South Florida. A longtime member of the Florida Bar Business Law Section’s Executive Counsel, Amir has served as Chair of the State and Federal Court Judicial Liaison Committee and the Membership Committee on behalf of the Section. Since 2017, Amir has been honored each year to serve as the Moderator for the Section’s flagship program, the Business Court Roundtable. You may view the 2020 Business Court Roundtable Program (and earn CLE credit) on demand here. Amir is also a founding member of the Florida Fiduciary Forum, and member of the National Association of Federal Equity Receivers (NAFER). Amir is a frequent panelist, guest speaker and moderator at Florida Bar sanctioned events, most notably on the topics of bankruptcy and reorganizations, converging issues between bankruptcy and receiverships, Florida’s complex business courts, Florida’s Uniform Commercial Real Estate Receivership Act (UCRERA), insurance law, problem solving in real estate development, receiverships, the role of fiduciaries, and the U.S. economic housing crisis. More recently, Amir served as faculty at the Florida Circuit Court Judges (FCCJ) Annual Conference, and the Florida Dispute Resolution Center (FDRC) Annual Conference, presenting on the topics of receiverships, restructurings and alternative dispute resolutions.
